You guys may not want to hear this from me…..

….but the sky is not yet falling. If you handle your business, you can still make it to Indy.

There was a great segment on the radio in Omaha today about Iowa football. Basically, they said that Kirk has brought Iowa to a level that they really have never been, and to get rid of the guy could possibly be program suicide, ala Syracuse getting rid of Pasqueoni (sp?). Sometimes, a program is what a program is. I know that you all want to play for MNC and/or Rose Bowls, but sometimes that is a very steep uphill battle considering who Iowa is and who is in the Big Ten.

Personally, (I never thought I would say this) but I will be a big Hawkeye fan the next couple of weeks, and I hope that we can take care of business November 25. Things are getting interesting.

No,no,the sky is most certainly falling. The end is near, doom is us.

But, you are right, that game on Black Friday still could be huge...for both teams.

If we win the rest of our games which we are capable of, we will be playing in the big ten championship with a chance to go to a bcs bowl, we ain't out of this thing yet, but we better figure something out on the dline and quick. oh and getting more than one healthy linebacker would be nice. oh and did i mention some guy with a 28 on his chest needs to play like some guy with 28 on his chest did the past two seasons for the next 4 games.

If there is one thing I have learned about KF teams.... they really are not ever completely out of it. In fact we are probably a more dangerous 'spoiler' right now.

Hard to call Iowa a spoiler when they still control their own destiny. Win out and win the division.

I would like to see Iowa just once act and play with aggression and a little swagger. Too many 'nice' players out there. Where is the mean streak??

Re:You guys may not want to hear this from meÂ…..

We are not a good football team, but I think we pull off one upset and finish 6-6. Detroit or Jacksonville for the bowl game. I also predict many will say its time for KF to go, while others will make lots of excuses and say "hey, we're Iowa." I have no room to talk, I go back and forth daily. The loss to Minnesota was the worst in recent memory. Hard to have faith in this team.

Congrats on being a fan of a team that knows how to win. I doubt Minnesota will be giving the Huskers trouble any time in the foreseeable future. In fact, Nebraska is probably going to make fools out of the whole conference by the end of this season.

Congrats on being that very special someone.

This football program under Ferentz seems to play to the level of the competition thus many close wins and close losses with a few exceptions.

The challenge to this coaching staff is to elevate the teams level of play to consistently beat the teams Iowa is suppose to beat and beat the teams they are not suppose to beat by narrow margins.

This Iowa program appears to be stuck on the next lower level where Iowa tends to lose to teams by narrow margins they are suppose to beat, and lose to teams they are suppose to lose to by narrow margins. There are exceptions but this appears to be the general trend under Ferentz direction at least in the recent past.

Indy? I just hope we can keep Michigan to under 300 yards rushing! All I know is that we have to get to 6 wins...we just have to..Not even being bowl eligible is the worst case scenario. With all the youth on the team, they need the extra practices and road experience.

First there is no way Iowa can "get rid of Ferentz" no matter how much they might like to? The salary he makes makes that absolutely impossible.

Second, I don't think anyone WANTS to see Iowa fire Ferentz. I think all people would like to do is see Ferentz make the decisions he has to make, the changes he has to make given his personnel, to begin winning, to beat pi$$ poor teams. His stubborness, friendships, and loyalty to his players and staff make that ALMOST impossible though. THAT is what has to change...if he cannot, then he needs to do something else.

Would Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio St, USC, Alabama accept mediocrity? You say, Iowa is none of those teams. Well folks Iowa is paying its head coach as much or more than the coaches of those teams, AND THEY expect success, not mediocrity. If Iowa wants mediocrity then pay the coach accordingly. Ferentz gladly takes the money Iowa pays him...he should be willing to do whatever he needs to do to make Iowa very successful. If that means replacing his best friend as defensive coordinator, then so be it. If he can't do that, then he needs to just step down or be put under tremendous pressure to do whatever he needs to do to be a very good college football team.

Almost all posters on this board say and think that college football is a business. IF you think it is a business, why doesn't the head coach have to treat it like a business? He certainly is being paid well to be successful. He is given all the tools to be successful. There are a few areas that are difficult but he took the job knowing the difficulties. As head coach, he needs to do whatever he can, including adapting, changing, his style to fit his personnel and be successful, even if it means he has to replace coaches who are not doing their job. If he cannot do this, then he is failing at his job. Past performances mean nothing.

When you and your boss meet to discuss your job performance, does the boss say, "Well you had a few successful years so because you haven't performed well the past 2 years, I am going to let you ride on your past performance. You don't have to change anything or replace anyone, just keep doing what you are doing and even though the business is suffering because of your job performance, YOU decide what you are going to do. I, as the boss, am not going to say anything because you had those few good years."

I know you don't want to hear this from me but keep your chin up 74, the sky is not falling and the sun will rise tomorrow. This is a tough conference and you need to bring it every week. Even at home. Things are indeed getting interesting.

Bump. I really want 74 to read this tomorrow or Monday. Things will get better. You have a couple tough games on the road but you are Nebraska. It ain't like you are little ol' Iowa. Buck up little camper. The sky isn't falling.
