Today when I first clicked on Iowa vs Iowa State today!....

I read about one page of replies and got a little down on all the negative replies. Give the Hawks a chance! I live in Estes Park, and am going through the flood problems. Yesterday, I spent 14 hours cleaning up water damage to my house. I got 3 hours of sleep, and this morning, put on my Hawkeye sweatshirt and walked a mile to the grocery store (my car was flooded over), and found out there was really nothing left on the shelves. I got back home and clicked on the above thread and asked myself do I really need to hear anything else negative? My goal today is to make it to the 4th quarter hoping my house doesn't slide into The Big Thompson River first. We are supposed to get more rain this afternoon through Sunday, after 12" already the past few days. I am lifelong Hawks fan and always will be. I love the enthusiasm, the memories of the glory days, and support of Hawkeye Nation. But it is hard to read constant whinning and moaning from some fans. You think players are exempt from getting this feedback, and it doesnt eventually affect them in some way? Believe me, as I realize more than ever after going through these floods, it is only a game. I am first and foremost a Hawkeye, one that is hoping to survive to Monday. A 4th person lost they're life today here, and 1/2 of the Estes Park citizens have lost almost everything. Please lighen up Hawk fans, it could be worse. Go Hawks!!! Beat the Clones, and please God, less rain.

Kind of puts a little perspective on it, doesn't it? Can't wait to see how the normal crew of Negative Nancies plays this one.

Hope you and your loved ones make it through the floods okay.

That's what I'm talking about! People are already acting like we lost. Where is the fan swagger? You're all afraid we're going to lose.

Hang in there. Everyone here in Colorado (and the rest of the country) are hoping for the best for you guys going through this disaster. I hope the Hawks can give you a little ray of sunshine today.

Sorry, but I am not swayed by your ethos of tragedy. I feel bad for what you are going through, but trying to use that as a way to scold Hawk fans for being frustrated with the state of the program trivializes the real losses people are enduring.

If what you are saying is true you should be out helping your neighbors, not griping on a sports message board.

Totally agree. One thing has nothing to do with the other. And some fungo asks where is our "swagger?" Why would our fan base have any swagger based on our last 2 years? Dumb commentary and I'm dumber now after having read it.

If I left my house to help somebody, moron, I would lose all that I have..My point was, It could be worse than griping every day about a football game...If you were here right now, I'd take every bit of my last energy to punch you in the face...idiot!!!

Greg Davis been coppin' our swagger.

Jeez CARRHawk lighten up a little. If you've never been through a disaster you have no clue. If you have been through a disaster you have no heart. A game is a way to get your mind off of what has just happened. The disaster isn't going away, but the man could use some positive vibes. I know all the negativity may make some happy, but some us fans may need something beside b####### and moaning all the time. Enjoy your day because some wont be able to.

Fungo? You were dumber before you read it.

Prayers for you and everyone in your area. Keep your head up, think positive, don't let depression enter into your thinking. While this is devastating it is also an opportunity to start over and do things the way you want them.

That sounds awful, Bray. You don't post much but if you lurk here more, you'll see some positive people. If we lose today, you won't want to visit for a while, that for sure!

I lost my apartment in the Northridge quake, (luckily I wasn't in it at the time) had to evacuate during the Rodney King Riots, when the building behind my apartment went up in flames. I had house damage from the Iowa City Tornado, and lost power for two weeks from a massive ice storm. Guess what? At no point was I on a sports message board the next day griping about the way people were posting, nor would I have been all that happy with someone else who used my experience to do so.

After the Northridge quake I was going through neighborhoods identifying downed power lines. I was out with a shovel after the King riots cleaning up burned out buildings. I hope you don't have to ask what people did after the tornado.

I would have been fine having this guy come on here and said thank goodness he had Hawkeye football to get him through the day. But, again, using the ethos of the sufferer of a tragedy to ***** on here is worse than others ******** about football.

I actually did come on here to get a reprieve off my mind after watching a house float by me. You missed my point, and as I said before, I was hoping for a little bit of optimism going into this forum...and got it after I learned the Hawks won. Mr Negative...go beat up a dog or get your frustrations out on somebody or something besides me. I am NOT going to stoop to your level. I teach high school and have to deal with lots of emotions soon....You have none, and I am PROUD to reiterate that you are not smart.
