Gopher For Dinner

Gopher bitches should be ashamed of themselves

Zebras tried and tried to give them the game and they still almost threw it away

Gophers shot 28 free throws

Hawks shot 13

Damn idiots act like they just won the national championship

It was very slanted one way, but that is big ten basketball on the road. Just shows what kind of a coach we have. Kept his cool under very challenging officiating. Fran would have blown a few blood vessels in this game with the crap officiating.

Three good open shots and didn't hit any of them.

Great comeback when it didn't look like it would even be close.

Not a meltdown ...
I think Bullhawks are a NCAA tourney team but just see them as overrated. Besides UCLA, what quality power 5 team (let alone, ranked team) have they beaten to earn a top 20 ranking? As competition ramps up, the offense struggles to get any flow, very methodical, predictable passing, easy to defend, poor shooting. Certainly not the sharp passing and movement saw against the cupcakes.
They're staring down the barrel of a 3-game L streak (tonight, Illannoy, Purdue) probable 4th at Indy, will still be winless vs ranked teams, upside down in B10 and a pedestrian 12-6.
Again, consider them a tourney team but more of a 9-10 seed rather than 5-6 seed.

That was frustrating.. It'd sure be nice to not have such long stretches of not so good play. Stirtz has to stay out of foul trouble that's 2 games in a row now. That 2nd foul he committed was just dumb too slapping/reaching like he did.

I am impressed though considering they stayed in it and fought like they did so much without him. I woulda thought if Stirtz wasn't playing 30 plus mins we'd have damn near no shot.

We gotta get more outside shooting though. 27% from 3 isn't gonna cut it. Cam and Alvaro putting up goose eggs doesn't either. Cam isn't expected to be a scorer but he can't do nothing. Combs played well he was about the only other guy I'd say that did. Howard played tough and did a lot of things well. But he can't throw it in the ocean most of the time. We airballed more 3s then we made it seemed like.

This team is in desperate need of a # 2 guy. I think they want it to be Alvaro but he's just so inconsistent. That said this was a road game up in the Barn that place can be a house of horrors we've had better teams go up there and not win before. I'm glad we showed some fight when it kinda looked like we didn't for awhile.

I think we rely way too much on Stirtz. As good as he is it's tough to have a one man team offensively nowadays. If he struggles at all/gets in foul trouble you name it that just presents huge problems for us. That's gonna be the theme of this team as the rest of the yr goes on. Can anyone else step up consistently or are we gonna expect more of the same?

Nice comeback try, horrible start. I like the fight, the not giving up.

I thought the Gopher D was something else though, did a great job.

Hawks will learn from it and get better, pretty sure.

One thing I thought was pretty cool to see was Hausen immediately going over to Stirtz after the last 3 point attempt fell short and gave him a hug. On the McCollum interview after the game he mentioned the players all call Hausen ‘Coach’. Gotta find ways to keep their heads up and in it.
