The Spring Training Schedule starts today. Could this be the year? I'm going to put the over under at 93 wins this season. Incredible lineup but some new pressure this year. I believe Maddon will have them ready.
 
I think Maddon just has to show up, the boys will do the rest....;)

I predict 98 wins, so over....incredible power in the is lineup, picked up some great pitching, it'll be fun DJL that's for sure...My wife just flew down to Phoenix this morning w/her best friend and fellow Cubbie from their glory days at Wartburg....take in a game.....my damn dogs depressed though, but, hey, she'll get over it....

It's on my bucket list to go to Spring training. I am jealous of your wife! I hope you are right, 98 wins would be incredible.

We were down there 2 years ago when they opened their new stadium, it's a blast, you gotta get down there, man
 
Over 93 wins for sure. Depth is so good we can withstand a couple injuries. Defense will be upgraded with no Castro and Heyward out there roaming too. Our defense really hurt us in the NLCS.
Spring training definitely on the bucket list! Just seems like I always have too much going on to leave this time of year.

It will be nice at the end of games if we want to hold a lead we can put Fowler in Center, Heyward in right...not sure about Left, depends who makes the opening day roster I guess. But our outfield defense can be strong when we need it to be. But the lineups that we can put in day in and day out are scary good. Most days at least 7 or 8 guys can take you deep. That's fun.
 
Hey DJL, my wife just texted me and was pleasantly surprised that her good friend purchased tix for today's game (right directly behind the Cubs' bench), now I'm bummed out....

I'm guessing whoever the 5th OF is that makes the roster, whether Victorino or Matt Sczererzereszer lol will be a very good defensive outfielder. I think they'll take defense over hitting with that spot. Not sure other than those two who else may have a shot? I have heard Almora is a great defensive player but they won't waste contract time with him to sit the bench.
Every given day though we can match up righty/lefty etc. or however Maddon wants. I may be most excited about Russell, I'd lock him up long term. I think he is going to be a stud and will give you long term stability at the most important infield position.

I agree on Russell. He really came into his own at the plate the second half of last year and has a great glove at short. Looks like they are starting Javy Baez at first today after playing CF yesterday. I guess they want to see if he can be a super utility guy.

Yeah I think they are seeing where Baez can play and can't play. I think Bryant or Zobrist could spell Rizzo a day at 1b. It would be nice to get him a couple more days off this year. Also would be nice if Schwarbs could play 1b.

Yeah we need to find a safe place for Schwarber to play. Doesn't sound like catcher is ideal and we've seen the outfield experiment. I heard they are considering the DH for the NL. Normally I would be against that but with this team....
 
Not Cubs related, but I wanted to post this. It's kind of sad for me and cool at the same time, because it takes me back to when I used to watch him on TV and listen to him do games on the radio when I was little (Sorry, it may not be as neat to others). This is really cool. The game won't be the same without him.
 
Vin Scully = legend. Game is missing those "voices".
Not to be a homer, but I think Pat Hughes for the Cubs Radio is one of the best out there.

Cubs on pace to go 162-0 boys!

I was listening to Pat on the way home Sunday. I've always enjoyed listening to him. Last night was an outstanding way to start. Jake looked as filthy as ever, and if he can add that change up on a consistent basis he will be a dominant #1 guy again this year. It truly could be a special year.
