Bernstine-15 tackles

Assuming he stays healthy, I agree. He reminds me of Sanders in nearly every way, including his injury-proneness.

agreed. the kid just finds the ball. if he can finish out the year without some devastating injury, he'll have played himself into the NFL

You could almost feel some of those hits he made through the TV yesterday.

He brings it. He'll get a shot to play on Sunday. Hope he stays healthy - but the way he plays the game lends itself to injury, just like Bob Sanders.

Great athlete and he's having a nice senior season.

don't know id label him injury prone, he's only really had that one major ankle injury

I swear I could remember some other more nagging injuries that he's had. Not as many serious injuries as Sanders, but IIRC he's had some little ones that have held him back at the wrong time.

Great game by JB. That said, comparing him to Sanders is like comparing a nice H.S. art class drawing to Van Gogh. Sanders is an all time IA great. He did it w/ pins in his feet/ankles, at times, and generally changed the culture of IA football (was one of a few who had a hand in turning things around during KF's early yrs).

JB is somewhere behind Godfrey/Considine/Pagel. Good, will get some cash at the next level but will have to make plays on Sp Tms. Similar to Paschal, IMO...--he will have the chance to make a name for himself.

so much for the kid being the bust like many have labelled him. He is dinged up too.
He will be the next Iowa safety to play in the NFL.

I'm real excited about his play, he's one of my favorite players and one of the most important if not the most valuable player on defense.

That being said, he came VERY close to being a bust. It's too bad that he wasn't able to use his great skills until his senior season. If only he could have stayed healthy we sure could have used him in previous years.

Prater and Bernstine will play on Sundays next year.
Hyde will the year after.
Our secondary is very solid.
If Alvis had not gone down,I think this defense continues to improve the rest of the year, but could be tough without Dom.
Iowa offensive line took command yesterday, and Iowa will continue to need that kind of effort to protect our defense. November is bone-crushing runner month...like Marcus. Keep running well, and Iowa has a chance.

1. I never said he was as good as Sanders.
2. I said he plays LIKE Sanders. By that I'm talking about his style of play, the attitude that he brings to the table. He elevates the play of those around him. As poor as our defense has looked at times this year, it looked worse when Bernstine wasn't on the field.

Sanders was the same way. He was just better at it.

I agree bernstine is leading by example on the field.

But yeah he plays like Bob Sanders... But he is no Bob Sanders. We havent seen a Bob Sanders since he left... And we may never see another one.

But if he forces two fumbles against msu... Then i'll give him the Bob Sanders ribbon of excellence.

They make those.

It is almost like he has made Miller a harder hitter also. Its like Miller sees Bernstine hit someone and wants to top it.

This is just silly, JB is a much bigger and more athletic than pegal or considine. we haven't had that much size and athleticism in the safety spot since back when Hayden had Damien Robinson or Myrton Hanks back there.

JB is a great story of perseverance.
There was a KC Chiefs scout on the Iowa side line Saturday during the pre-game warm up session. He spent a lot of time watching Bernstein.
