You can stop with this stuff in this thread. By definition when you are picking a player who "surprises" you are going with someone you haven't really seen, but feel they have a chance to impress. Nobody is at practices enough to be making coaching decisions, including you...unless you are insinuating that the coaches talk to you about this stuff.
That said, here are the players I think can impress this year, and just to clarify for Icke, it aint because I'm a coach or at practice, but it is because I am one of the millions of internet "experts" around the world.
OL - James Daniels, not much of a surprise here. When you get that much playing time as a Tr Fr it bodes well for his overall career.
RB - Toks, I think he wins that 4th spot and is the next "big thing" on the interweb boards
WR - Scheel, I think he is the starting X receiver by the end of the season
DL - Matt Nelson will have plenty of opportunity to impress. Isn't going to wow you with sack numbers, but will be solid in the run game
LB - Mends, I think he wins the WLB job
S - Taylor had a solid first year, I think he continues to build on that
