Which true FR might play this year

Based on what I have heard and read, I think the 5 most likely true incoming freshman with a chance to play this Fall are:

1. C. Lattimore - DL - big time recruit - thin at DE and he might help supply a needed pass rush
2. K. Taylor - LB - most likely to see time at Special Teams
3. D. Young - WR - a lot of unknowns at WR and a good Fall camp might earn him some reps at WR
4. N. Fant - TE - gifted pass catcher who might push for reps at #2 TE
5. A. Hooker - DB - good size and intangibles and put up huge stats in his senior year - again might see time at Special Teams

Any others?

Nice list. If most of these guys play then we are talking injuries. I'm not sure the coaching staff will burn a red shirt for special teams alone. If I had to pick one it would be your number one in Lattimore. The guy is a beast and w/ Ott's outcome I think he makes the rotation behind Hesse. If he is as good as advertised he may earn more playtime down the stretch. Maybe Young too but history lately hasn't been kind to that prospect.

Kinda surprised to see TEs being named with Kittle and Outsey returning. I also liked the kid out of Dowling when I saw him play in High School but he obviously isn't listed in the depth chart but I wonder if he would be in the mix as well.

I really like what I seen on RB Barringiton Wade. IMO I think he could end up being the early boomer in this class.

They basically burnt Hockaday's redshirt playing special teams this last year, but they were thin at LB, so somewhat understandable. Barring injuries, I don't see any freshman playing this year and that's the way KF prefers it (since he is FOR making it mandatory that freshman sit a year).

I understand your thought on Lattimore, but they will have Maj. Anthony Nelson back up both ends and I guaranty you Lattimore will not jump Nelson on the depth chart. In fact, from what I saw at the spring game, Matt Nelson better watch out for Anthony Nelson jumping him on the depth chart. I could see them bringing Anthony in for Matt in pass rushing situations.
