How many pros in this line-up?

People knock Iowa's talent. I think there are quite a few guys that could be playing on Sunday:

Locks:
Desmond King
Austin Blythe
Jaleel Johnson
CJ Beathard

Likely:
Ott
Jewell
Mabin (people ride him but he has NFL measurables. His wingspan alone will get him a look)
Lomax
Walsh
T. Smith
HKC (dude my be the best blocking TE in the draft)

Could bes:
Taylor
Daniels Bros.
Welsh
Crosten
Myers
Kittle
Duzey

How is this team lacking talent when so many will play on Sunday?

Right now the only lock is King and he isn't a first rounder, not NFL speed. Blyth probably but not so good a bad combine couldn't send him tumbling down. The likely list is really reaching, it would be like the 2001 hurricanes if that many guys went to the NFL.

The more I see of Jewell I think he may be in the "lock" category. Just a sophomore, big, quick, smart.

Yeah, I am probably reaching on some likelys, but I think all of them will at least get a preseason look.

I disagree the only lock to get drafted is King. Jaleel Johnson will absolutely be drafted after next season. He's NFL material all the way. And I have full faith that a guy that can throw and shows the leadership qualities CJ has will get his name called some time.

I'm guessing he doesn't mean all of them in the 2016 draft. Several of those guys will be 2017 draftees. I think it's very reasonable to think that 10+ of them go to the NFL over the next two drafts.

Jewell is as much of a reason for this season as anyone. People thought he would be a weak link in the offense, and instead he's been all-conference quality.

Zero. None are getting paid now.

SEC is filled with pros.

Of course. I don't think a guy like Jewell is going to get drafted this year. Or even next year. But I think, barring injury, he is very likely to be drafted after his senior year.

Or the '08-'09 Hawkeyes.

I like your enthusiasm OP, but I think you're setting yourself up for major disappointments. On average I would say around 3-3.5 Iowa players get drafted each year during the Ferentz era. King and Blythe are locks to get drafted, straight up locks, mark it zero donny. Everyone else? We're talking drafted and not non roster invites? I'll take a stab at who will get drafted:

Boone Myers, James Daniels, Jaleel Johnson

Honorable mentions to George Kittle (needs a huge senior season), Ike Boettger (get healthy dude), Nathan Bazata (still young, room to grow), Parker Hesse (dude has 3 years to grow and get faster off the end), Sean Welsh (young still, tons of experience), Drew Ott (depends on his pro day), Josey Jewell (he is a f'ing stud and only a soph. Greenway 2.0? not as fast but he's everywhere)

The rest are all up in the air, too young, or don't play enough currently to figure into the mix. One thing for certain is Iowa is going to be loaded at the lines for the foreseeable future.

Probably 13 or 14...but the 2008 Iowa roster was loaded...I remember writing after that year that it probably would wind up with the most NFL players drafted on any Iowa roster in history...and it did
