Daniels

What do you think is holding Daniels back from playing more at running back? He seems to be the highest regarded recruit at RB. He has had plenty of time in this god awful offensive scheme. Maybe i just answered my own question? What do people think?

I think early this year he missed a couple blitz pickups which will get you benched.

In the Purdue game he seemed to pick up a couple blitzers and help in pass protection. He is going to have two years left after weisman graduates. That is it.

I think Ferrenz has his own valuation matrix when it comes to rb's that looks nothing like what the general public considers a good rb.

because he can't see the holes. I guess I don't see what "the general public" sees on this one. Canzeri is a better runningback between the 20's, Weisman is a better running back in short yardage, and Bullock is a better passing down running back.

I don't know if field vision can be taught, but if it can he needs to work on that. He's got the other tools to be a very good running back.

I expected better things from Daniels this year.....but then again.......I expected better things from the entire offense too.

Daniels has provided average stats from what I've seen this year so far. I didn't look at his stats but he seemed to run better last year from my own eye test. That being said our line has underperformed and for the most part no one is getting enough carries to get into a good flow of the game. Daniels will not get consistent carries until next year when he is a junior and Weisman is gone. Talent rarely supplants upperclassmen in the KF system.

Unfortunately, I think this is true. Daniels needs more carries to get in the flow of A game. Any game. He just needs to stay in there. Give him an entire series. However, you are right on the money with the upperclassmen issue the KF has.... Next year will be a much better year for LD. He will need to work on blitz pickups. But that will come with experience, too. Looking forward to an improved line and some good running backs.

Our OL has struggled this season and the reasons for that have been well discussed. But I will say this, the OL does do a particularly good job with blocking on running plays right up the middle. That blocking scheme has at least been affective. However, MW seems to get the majority of those play calls and JC a few. Bullock and LD don't get those, they get the stretch plays that our OL can't seem to figure out how to block. So, I would say that a person could argue that MW's success is a bit contrived and is at the expense of LD. Why don't we see LD getting a hand off right up the middle?

What has anyone seen from him, except his beach outfit, that says he should be getting carries ahead of anyone else?

I think the RB rotation thing was a disaster early. You had to cut at least one out. Right now, he is still learning, and is probably the right guy to take out of that rotation. I still hope he becomes a good back. He just needs to keep working hard, and he will get his chance.
