Can KF still pull upsets?

We all know that the hallmarks of a KF season are some maddening losses (ISU 2014) followed by some unthinkable upsets (the list goes on and on).

My open question is: Of the three remaining upset possibilities (Minn, Wisc, Neb) do you see Iowa winning any of those games?

As Jon Miller has stated, lets let the season play out before getting huffy. However, it sure would be very un-KF-like to not find one stunning signature win for the season. 8-4 is a "break even" point for this team this season, but it will feel a lot better if one of those 8 is a nice upset, which the 8th win will need to be at this point in time.

What say you Hawkeye Nation?

The fact that beating Mighty Minny is now considered an upset speaks volumes about the state of the program.

Min and Wis would not be an upset. Nebby would be a minor one because of perception.

There's no way Iowa could beat MSU or OSU.

Minny wouldn't be an upset. I do think Wisky would be an upset, as would Nebraska. Beating Northworstern will be no easy feat, either.

It pains me to say it, but UW has been better than Iowa for a while now.

He upsets the fans, seemingly, each week. But in all seriousness, this season, kNU should not be considered an upset if we win. But, it is because our coach has us under performing. I mean, when will we ever be able to rely on KF to field a championship level contender in the B1G? When?!

unless Iowa fixes their run defense in a hurry, neither wisconsin nor nebby will have any trouble going off for 400 yards rushing against the hawks

As of today, Minny would be an upset as well. They are ranked in one poll and getting many votes in another. That makes it an upset whether we like it or not. Maybe that'll change by the time they play. But for now Iowa could end up 6-6.

With a schedule this weak this is an epic failure. I hope this is not the case. I cannot begin to imagine what this board will look like should this happen.

Beathard over Rudock may be the only chance to avoid a meltdown the likes of which I don't believe Hawkeye nation has seen.

As long as GD is here, and we run the scheme we saw yesterday, the answer is a resounding, "No!"

Beating the Golden Goofballs is not an upset, not even this year. We have beaten them into submission so many times in the past couple decades its not funny (and the two years they beat us up there recently, they upset US).

WI would be an upset, cause they have been better than us the past few years. Neb will also be an upset, as they will be a ranked team when we play them.

Did you mean as long as KF is here and he handcuffs the play calling and chooses inferior QBs to run the scheme, the answer was NO? Sorry, that's what I thought you meant.

Will beating Illinois be considered an upset?

So... I'm wondering what this board would look like if CJ started the rest
of the games and we ended up 6 - 6.... who would be the scape goat?

I can hear the sound of heads exploding.

I still feel they can possibly beat Minny and Wisco due to their poor passing games. Not that Minny would be an upset. Nebraska is going to destroy us, unfortunately.

They have been able to get, and keep good(B1G quality) running backs. That counts for a lot.

Wisconsin is awful and that game is at home. That one is firmly in the "should win" category. Not saying that we will, but that would be a terrible loss considering their QB situation and the fact that their coaching staff is apparently just as incompetent as Iowa's.

Looking at the remaining 5 games, the only ones that would be surprise victories would be Minn and Neb. Minn is a very mediocre team but they know how to win and they play hard for their coach. Us...not so much.

Nebraska is a hell of a lot better than we are, but Pelini is known for blowing key games, so who knows. He damn near did it against us in 2012, so I guess anything is possible.

BS. Iowa currently has one of the best RBs in school history, and has not been hamstrung at the position in years. Look at the all-time rushing and TD lists (single season and career) and it's a veritable who's-who of KF-era players. In fact, I believe our current #1 tailback just averaged nearly 8 ypc in our most recent loss.

Can you honestly say with a straight face that RB is the position that's holding Iowa back in a season where we're as deep at that spot as we've ever been? Meanwhile, Wisconsin currently has 3 QBs in the NFL, including the reigning Super Bowl champion.

What Wisconsin has/had over Iowa is a competent AD that DEMANDS success in football and far better coaching (overall and particularly on the offensive side of the ball). Better recruiting and player development has also clearly been a factor.

Can KF still pull upsets? Did we all watch the game Saturday and were we all upset? I think the answer is yes then.....
