Big Ten Two Derps

Having survived the ups and downs (mostly downs) of the non-conference season, I think it's fair to say that several first time starters have solidified their position while on the other hand some back ups have worked their way into the line up.

Here's the way I'd like to see it played for the B1G season:

QB - Beathard, Rudock - Not much to say that hasn't been said. Beathard is the more promising QB, and we need a QB with a higher ceiling than Rudock.
RB - Weisman, Canzeri - I like Daniels, but Weisman, when teams are not stacking the box, is the better power weapon this year. Canzeri is the change of pace, and should be getting 10+ touches a game.
FB - Kenny, Plewa - Kenny has been unbelievably good for a LB, so much so that He ought to stay there. He's laid out some vicious lead blocks, Adam Cox style.
WR - Not gonna do this slot bs. Five man rotation. Smith and KMM as starters with liberal doses of, Powell, Vandy, and Willies rotating in. - Hillyer will get time because he blocks well, but for my mind each time you don't have two of the above five in the line-up is a missed playmaking opportunity.
TE - Hamilton, Duzey (HKC for blocking situations) - Why can rotate deep here, but why do we when we got studs up top.
OL - PLEASE GOD NO ONE GET HURT
DT - LTP, Faith - Davis is the NFL talent, but LTP is the heart and soul of this D.
DT - Davis, Johnson - See above. to add, Faith and Johnson are excellent depth, and should be capable replacements should either starter go down.
DE - Ott, Ott again. - I don't see that guy coming out for anything less than a mortal injury.
DE - Meier, Hardy - Meier shows improvement every game, and allows more zone blitz.
WLB - Jewell, Spearman - Jewell showed more against Pitt than Spearman's shown all year. Why is Spearman not redshirting and building himself into a DE?
MLD - Alston/Perry - Alston's still weak in passing situations. He's a team leader, good at the run, and gets after the QB relatively well, but I gotta think that Perry, who started at WLB the first game, would be a better option in passing situations.
OLB - Bower, Perry - Bower's been a pretty nice surprise, though he still looks lost every once in a while.
SS - Is Lowdermilk really the best SS we have? Is that possible? He plays hard, and I love him for it, but the guy doesn't play smart enough to make up for his lack of athleticism. Gair can't play SS?
FS - Lomax, Gair - Lomax has become quite the enforcer in the run and over the middle. Gair filled in admirably when this pussified wussfest we used to call football got the better of Lomax.
CB- King, Draper - King's a complete package. Draper has been dead to me since Michigan State last year. Gotta be someone like Rucker or someone who can outdo him.
CB - Mabin, Fleming - Mabin is a damn good coverage corner. He's been beaten a couple times, but they've always been really well thrown balls and great catches. If King and Mabin stay healthy, that's a damn good CB combo.

That's a good assessment. I especially agree with your comments on QB, WR, WLB, SS & CB. I would like to see more Daniels tho...

I'm definetly not sold on spearman, or Alston. For me Alston is a look like Tarzan and play like jane. Really hopeful for josely Wales Jewell and Bo bower

Lowdermilk is excellent in run support. His tackle on Conner in the third quarter all but showed the other DBs HOW Conner needed to be tackled. Any thing over 6-yards to go on 2nd/3rd/4th down? Leave Lowdermilk in ASSUMING we go nickel or other back-heavy config. In pass coverage, he's the great center fielder with the cannon arm, but has to rely on right and left fielders to chase down the gaps. Overthrows or double coverages are his forte. We can only "depend" on one of those at any given time.
