AJ Epenesa @ Army Bowl

Does he play receiver, too?

Seriously, though, very excited to see him play the next 3 years!

He's a stud. He will be awesome at whatever spot he fills. I'd expect him to play a lot next year and make some noise. If m Nelson moves inside Eppy will be a great rush end in the swarm package. Kid is fast and very strong

I won't get my hopes up. If he's good enough, and sounds like he is / will be, he should play a lot.

My pessimism thinks he'll play some of the first game, never to be seen again till the next season.

Like all other FR who don't need to put on a bunch of weigh to get physically ready, if he knows his assignments for all of the defensive calls and is consistently where he is supposed to be, he'll have a very good chance to play a lot.

If he doesn't, he won't see the field.

DE isn't a heady position like QB or MLB. Iowa doesn't do a lot of fancy zone blitzing and ask him to drop into coverage or anything like that. Pretty strait forward play your gaps and occasionally run stunts with the DTs. He seems physically ready to go. That said there's a big difference between a 17 yr old jr in HS tackle that he's been going up against a lot this year to a 22 yr old one that's been in a college program 4 or 5 yrs....

Saban is getting a good one here
I love it.

And then I come to the realization that his teams would still beat us 78-3.

Props to Epenesa though; it looks like he's gonna stay on board. I was outspoken that I thought he was going to leave after seeing NDSU, Northwestern, and Penn State. I was wrong and I'll gladly eat the crow

The kid is definitely in the national spotlight, at least among college football fans who are diehard enough to following recruiting. I was a the Penn State game, and had tons of people asking me if I thought he'd play as a freshman and saying how much they wish they had him on their squad.
