Hawkeyes to wear black patches on Jan. 19

Wow. That will be tough and amazing for the Street family. Chris, you're still loved and my favorite Hawkeye for all time. Go Hawks!

who is your favorite Iowa Basketball Player of All Time??

Chris Street. Not even close for me.

    Student Section

I hate to admit it, but I like the TelleTubbies. Not sure if that's spelled correctly. Loved the Capt America dude. Anything is awesome! Love that Carver is becoming a player again.

    Remembering Chris Street

Wonderful. As others have said, I felt like Chris was a brother. I never met him. I cried like a baby that night. I have said a few times on here, but I coached varsity basketball for a number of years. I wore the CMS40 "hard work" shirt under my dress shirt for big games. I wanted to do...

    Bielema to Arkansas

Re: Bielema to Arkansas? Doubt he coaches the Rose Bowl. Sometimes they do, other times they're not allowed. It will be interesting to see how Barry Alvarez plays this.

    Bielema to Arkansas

Bielema to Arkansas? According to reports. Sounds good to me. I respect what he's done in Buckyland. Once a Hawk, always a Hawk. Go Hawks!

Can we hire a D coordinator?

Giving up 95 pts is almost unwatchable. We won't win until there is a paradigm shift in our thought. Fran's message of pushing the basketball and playing uptempo is not quite synergistic w/ playing tough defense/winning basketball. Fran knows this, but our players haven't gotten the message...

    Quick Thought on Gardner-Webb Win

Here's also hoping that GW gets healthy and starts piling up wins. Anything to help our SOS.

I dream of the day we have something resembling this...

I may or may not have a sense of humor. I'd like to think so. I was 10 when Waite made possibly the biggest play in Hawkeye basketball history. After school see if mom and dad can help you with the math. I love the site as I love talking IA sports, especially hoops, but some of the other...

I dream of the day we have something resembling this...

Franstheman, I about jumped out of my chair and cheered for the Jayhawks after watching that. Good stuff. Thanks for posting. Those on here who think they're funny get a little old. A similar thing at Carver would be amazing. We don't have that kind of history, but we have some great...

Bryce Miller: Lack of playmakers, not Ferentz, causing Hawkeyes’ woes

I've said the same thing as above about CJF. He seems top-heavy when he runs. He goes down easier than anyone I've seen, small running backs included. I still think he'll be good for us.

Gesell gets to celebrate his bday by playing in his first career college game

Spank, I can't put my finger on it, but I'm more excited for Gesell to begin his career as a Hawkeye than any other kid since I've been a Hawk fan. I grew up on Vince Brookins, Bob Hansen, Kevin Boyle, Mark Gannon, etc... I think it's just that he exudes confidence, is a coach on the floor...

Gesell, Woodbury ready for Hawkeye debut - SiouxCityJournal.com

Can someone cut and paste this if possible? The SCJ - Mobile Touch doesn't open on my computer for some reason.

Coach Fran has a "Bob Knight" kind of basketball mind

I don't see the similarities b/n Coach Fran and Coach Knight. Just commenting on Bob Knight's basketball intelligence. Almost unparalleled in the history of the game.

Iowa can still win the division!

I live and breathe Hawkeye football and basketball. That said, I'm coaching my son's youth basketball game this weekend and I'm thinking of not DVRing the game Saturday and watching only the last few minutes. If this doesn't sound like a major thing, I scheduled my wedding around an Iowa game...

Coach Fran has a "Bob Knight" kind of basketball mind

Bob Knight has a demon or two (who doesn't) but he's one of the greatest basketball coaches the game as known. I won't defend some of his actions, but he is a heckuva basketball mind. Also, I will never forget his comments when Chris Street passed. Go Hawks!

    Fran talks White - Uthoff

I haven't read everyone's comments, but this will be a huge positive for this year's team. Players tend to coast in practice when they can't be challenged by the guy across from them. I often would practice different things with my starting lineup against 7 players to make it more challenging...
