1994. Sedrick Shaw, Kent Kahl, Ryan Terry, Tavian Banks, Tim Dwight. 2300 yards and 24 rushing TDs combined.
Unfortunately we went through five QBs, so they had to use all the RBs because it's all they had left for the the middle of the year.
They showed highlights from the Nebraska state semis on Sportscenter tonight. That has to be a pretty big thrill for those high school kids that aren't related to Lavar Ball or Lebron James.
We only lost by 12 because Indiana was pretty bad outside their five 3 pointer barrage in that couple minutes in the first half. They don't have much post presence outside some nice offensive rebounding last night, they suck at FTs, and they were horrible in transition given all the live ball...
You also have to consider guys like Harrison Barnes that scored 1200 in just two years and Ricky Davis that would've scored 2000 most likely had they played four years. Being a first round pick isn't a bad trade off.
2013. Weisman running over the blackshirts was a statement of physical dominance. And the other thing I remember was Iowa had some momentum and Rudock threw a perfect pass in the end zone that KMM dropped, so they settled for a FG. I think the fake punt was the next possession for Nebraska...
A lot of fun one off games this year in those tournaments, and a fortunate draw for conference opponents as far as potential wins, not so much at helping the RPI.
Probably going to shoot a lot less free throws anyway than last year without Cook. He was good for picking up 3 or 4 fouls per half himself, and getting them to the bonus early and often.
I think it was only hyped because it was a night game and was the first meeting on ESPN 2. ISU did have the close FSU loss, but Iowa was coming off a fortunate comeback vs Miami (OH). I think 2006 game on ESPN was probably the most hyped game I can recall from both teams perspectives as Iowa...
Neat find. Our "high action" offense circa 1980 looks about the same 40 years later! The food looked great, those steaks were enough to convince me to sign up for the Hawks.
It's also early season before teams have gelled. In 2002 we nearly lost at Miami of Ohio before we ever choked against ISU. In 2009 we got lucky against UNI. Both those teams turned out pretty well. Judging a team off how good they look in early wins isn't really a great idea. It's winning...
